Position Description

Hear and Say, is inviting applications from a suitably qualified and experienced individual interested in joining its Board of Directors.

Hear and Say is looking for a suitably skilled individual with strong professional knowledge and a dedicated interest in the oversight and strategic direction of Hear and Say.

The board provides oversight and advice to the CEO and Leadership Team providing specialist services and programs supporting people with hearing loss, through research, auditory verbal therapy and hearing technologies. The board meets six times a year in Brisbane.

This is a voluntary position.

About The Organisation

Hear and Say is Queensland’s specialised provider of audiology and speech pathology for all people with hearing loss. We operate state-wide and support people of all ages – from new born babies, to toddlers, school age children and adults.

Selection Criteria

We are looking for candidates with experience with either philanthropy/fundraising or service provision combined with an ability to bring those skills to the Board. To be considered for this role, you will also need to demonstrate the following:
• An understanding of governance and fiduciary duties associated with being a Director of a registered charity.
• Ability to contribute strategic thinking to organisational priorities, risk management and business development.
• Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to build networks and professional relationships.
• Commitment to the values and strategic priorities of Hear and Say.
• Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) course or equivalent, or willingness to complete (a preference but not compulsory).
